Here is an update of where I am at in terms of building a list / model for my Goblin Warband.
Snotflicka's finger was fully entrenched in his nose as he clawed for that elusive snot nugget. He surveyed (as much as a goblin can survey) his warband that was formed up in front of him (as much as goblin's can form up).
The God Mork has come to Snotflicka in a dream (inspired by a stolen keg of Dwarf beer mixed with some extra strong fungus juice) and told him to throw aside conventional wisdom, that tactics were for the unworthy. Mork told him to build a mighty warband that would crush the enemy with squigs and fanatics, that would run them down with chariot and pump wagon, and the crush them with the might and intelligence of trolls. Snotflicka had done just that and now his warband was ready for its first battle.
Everything had come into place and his troops were ready. He was however concerned that Big Boss Git Face had taken to laughing manically every time he looked at him. He has also taken to calling himself Mork.
Just then a thought entered Snotflicka's mind. Was there some sort of treachery afoot? At that moment he unearthed the nugget he was digging for and the thought was lost.
To battle!!...
Having spent some time recently looking into starting up a new army for 40K or Fantasy I settled on the idea of building an army for which I already have most of the models for already. My original concept was a fully Night Goblin army with supporting themed units ( trolls , squigs etc) however a revision of these lead me to settle on a mixed goblin list. This allows more options in terms of supporting units, sightly better ( i.e not crippling) leadership, and the potential to expand into some big nasties (GIANT SPIDERS!!) which are not part of the general Night Goblin theme.
In some ways I feel I may have sacrificed the integrity of the Night Goblin theme in order to get a leadership pump and some of the other units. On the other hand I consider the fact it is a goblin army and I am already cutting out a huge number of units / options from the rest of the book so I should allow myself a little slack to make the list slightly less useless.
The list I currently have in mind is sitting at 2609 which is a fair bit above my goal of 2400, however I built the list to include all the fun toys that I wanted and will edit it down at a later point.
I coined the term Deep Impact for the list as it is all about impact hits really. Total hit or miss army list. Thanks a lot Git Face.

ReplyDeleteMy one question though is that are not gobbos supposed to be a horde army? Will you suffer by less bodies on the field?
Possible.
ReplyDeleteHowever ironically crap troops do not make good use of the horde formation.
I think 3 solid blocks of gobbos should be ok...however totally untested.
