Emperors Children test model

Got keen today and decided to paint up a test model for my Emperors Children. I stupidly decided to mess it up and weather it a bit but it still looks ok.

Will try another one tomorrow with some different paints and try for a cleaner look.

Hobby Challenge One and Two Complete

January Challenge was the Iron Breaker Siege Master (HQ choice rolled). He came out ok ish but there is much room to improve.

February challenge is a  Maulerfiend (Heavy Support rolled). Pretty happy with this guy. First real vehicle I have used the airbrush on.  Next time I will try a slightly different technique as suggested by Paul.

March / Challenge 3 (target is simply 12 challenges minimum in a year) was rolled as troops. I have a few models sitting "in progress" on my desk so I may look to finish some of those off to keep on top of thing. Looking likely to be two Dark Eldar venoms that are 70% done.

2016 Hobby Painting Challenge

As per my previous post I have decided to try to motivate myself with my painting this year.

Both myself and Aaron are participating in the painting challenge.

The rules are simple. Each month (or on completion of the models assigned to each month) each participant rolls a d10 (or uses some d10 randomiser thingy) and assigns them self a force organisation slot to paint.

1HQ
2HQ
3Troops
4Troops
5Elites
6Elites
7Fast AttackHeavy Support
8Fast AttackHeavy Support
9Lord of WarHeavy Support
10Free Choice

The choice of models is up to each person and is not restricted to the same army. People like me tend to chop and change alot.

If painting a non 40K army then apply to roll to an appropriate choice from the army / system you decide to paint.

All the rolls etc are been tracking on a Google sheet.

However the January rolls are

2016 Hobby Plans....

Once again I want to step back a little and try and make a plan for my hobby for 2016. The first step is to look at how hard I failed in 2015..

I wanted:

1 - A game a month.

Fell well short of this but I did get more games in that 2014...so that is a positive

2 - Master an army

Fail

3 -  Tidy up gaming space and sort out terrain.

Success!!  Although I do still have some unassembled GW terrain ready to work on

4 - Finish off Orks

Massive fail

With all that in mind I plan to set some simple 2016 goals.

1 - Game more than 2015.

By all account I only got in around 7 or 8 games in 2015. Target is to beat that. To be honest I think I am gonna need to arrange some game with Josh and Aaron to make this happen.

I think some sort of narrative or at least interesting gaming scenarios might lend towards this happening a bit more.

2 - Paint an army...or at least paint more

Always hard for me as I chop and change ALL THE TIME. Thinking maybe Iron Warriors or Daemonkin as I have most of the models for both of these armies.

For this I am thinking some sort of monthly challenge with myself or others, continuing / rebooting the escalation league with a twist and maybe starting circa 1000 points.

Edit:

I am going to randomise a force organisation slot each month and aim to paint a models from that slot.
For January I roll a 2 on my chart which is HQ. So January will be an Iron Warriors Siege Breaker

Terrain - Manufactorum

A spur of the moment purchase, and equally spurred paint job.  Pretty happy how it looks.
Not that you could really stuff up a paint job on a partially destroyed building in a war zone..

Bruce, did you leave the microwave on again?
